Carley and Joe’s Lush Wedding at Flora

weddings

My last wedding before all of the world shut down was in Feb 2020, which was just weeks before California was in lockdown. I was lucky to also be a guest at this beautiful wedding and thinking back, it feels like a lifetime ago…

Carley and Joe got married on such a fun day of 2-22-20! Even I won’t forget their anniversary so Joe better not haha (also he got the date embroidered inside his jacket pocket so I don’t think he will). They chose an intimate and lush venue that is new in San Diego called Flora. I love how that inspired our color palette and style for the wedding. We chose to keep things simple and minimalistic with lots of whites and creams and greenery.

Often times I will suggest to my clients who have a big bridal party to go for posy size bouquets for their bridesmaids. It saves the bride money as well as making her own bridal bouquet look more grand.

Some of the flowers that used were varies white garden roses, some from Ella Rose Farm and some that were David Austin to bring a romantic feel. Ā I incorporated anemones because that dark center of this flower brings a more formal feel. Ā My favorites were those imported Japanese sweet peas that smelled divine and Clooney ranunculus that feels like Spring!

For the ceremony I wanted to create something that felt sacred and intimate for Carley and Joe. The ceremony space was a bit tight and with a big bridal party, I didn’t want Carley and Joe to get lost in the crowd; so my team and I created a small semi circle altar space that hugged them as their exchanged their vows. Ā We wanted to bring in some pampas grass to add a bit of height that then tapered down to jasmine vines to give a more organic feel. I also love how the pampas grass added a more modern element that gave all the white florals and greenery a bit more texture.

Had to include these pictures of a few of the cutest and sweetest flower girls and a couple of my favorite pastors/officiants (the Wymores) also such a good looking power couple if you ask me.

Also…is there anything better than a groom that cries when he sees his bride? Literally everyone was sobbing! So good!

Congrats Carley and Joe! I love you guys so much and I was honored to be doing your florals for this beautiful day as well as be a witness of your union! Thank you for your friendship and love always! Can’t wait to hang out soon…

PS. this cape is everything! I’m so happy I was there when the magic of this cape happened during your dress fitting!
